For students

I welcome students who wish to pursue Master’s or Doctoral research in the following areas:

  • Human-computer Interaction (HCI) – qualitative user studies
  • Science Communication – particularly on engaging scientists with the public and vice versa
  • Transdisciplinary Engineering Education
  • Studies of community and socio-technical order, ethnography & ethnomethodology

For details of admissions, see the following page on Tokyo Tech’s website: http://www.titech.ac.jp/english/graduate_school/

Tokyo Tech also has non-degree (exchange) programs for international students, details here: http://www.titech.ac.jp/english/graduate_school/international/non_degree.html

Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss a specific idea.

Undergraduate students who join the Department of Transdisciplinary Science and Engineering may be able to join my lab if they are interested in the above areas. Tokyo Tech has an undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering program taught entirely in English called GSEP. Details of GSEP can be found here.
